DESCRIPTION

AIB Artificial Intelligence Being is an advanced chatterbot intended to be used as a desk assistant and for entertainment purposes. Aib begins as a simple executable program with blank data files (memory). Aib uses no preconfigured sentence structures or word databases. For Aib to learn and figure out what to say, he uses a "Stream-Of-Consciousness" logic base originally developed by Matthew Rodgers, founder of Isomer Programming. A Stream-Of-Consciousness logic base is not just a Statement-Response sequence. Aib compares the current situation to past situations of more than just one statement length and decides how to respond based on how users have responded. If more than one response is possible for a given statement, Aib will respond with the phrase most used by all users Aib speaks too. After a while, Aib will begin to understand concepts and even create his own original sentences and ideas using substitutional arrangements. Aib can be taught using a force-teach function, and can even be programmed to open documents for you with your own personalized commands. Aib has more functionality than just carrying on conversation with the user. Aib also has Text-To-Speech Synthesis and Speech Recognition capabilities by using the Microsoft Speech SDK 5.1 (R). Text-To-Speech Synthesis allows Aib to talk aloud to the user through computer speakers, and Speech Recognition allows the user to talk to Aib without using the keyboard. Aib can read documents to you, you can save readings to .wav format, and even have Aib read a .wav file. He can remind you of appointments or open an internet site for you. Aib has come a long way since the original 1995 version. The older version was written in Borland Turbo C++ and resembled a DOS script. The new Aib was written in Microsoft Visual C++ (R), originally beginning in 2002. Since then, AIB has won several awards such as 1st Place for 2005 Best Learning Bot in the national Chatterbox Challenge.

Have simple conversations with Aib to talk about anything from your personal endeavors to the meaning of life! Aib begins knowing nothing at all, but can learn very fast, in any language!
Read text files for you.
Open a story you wrote, and have Aib read it aloud, or even save the reading to a WAV file and burn to a CD so you can listen to a story on the go just like a book-on-tape!

Use Aib's force-teach function to store memos to yourself:

Use the command line functions to simply type in a web page or file location to have AIB open it while running the Talk function.

Learn from pregenerated SEED files or share your own SEED files with your friends. Seed files are knowledge files used by AIB. Find them in the Component Files.

INSTALLATION

Check that your system meets the system requirements:
Supported Operating Systems
Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Home Edition; all language versions.
Microsoft Windows 2000 all versions; all language versions.
Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition; all language versions.
Microsoft Windows 98 all versions; all language versions.
Microsoft Windows NT(R) 4.0 Workstation or Server, Service Pack 6a, English, Japanese, or Simplified Chinese versions.
Windows 95 or earlier is not supported.
Hardware Requirements
An Athlon64/Pentium4 or later processor at 1.7GHz; 512 megabytes (MB) of RAM is recommended.
A microphone or some other sound input device to receive the sound is required for speech recognition (SR). In general, the microphone should be a high quality device with built-in noise filters. The speech recognition rate is directly related to the quality of the input. The recognition rate will be significantly lower or perhaps even unacceptable with a poor microphone.
Not all sound cards or sound devices are supported by SAPI 5, even if the operating system supports them otherwise.
Download the most recent version of the program from the binaries section of this page and save it to somewhere on your desktop.
Unzip the file using Winzip. Don't have Winzip? Download for free at http://www.winzip.com!
Install Aib by running INSTALL.exe. You MUST use C:\Isomer\ as the install directory, and type "." (a period) for the source file directory.
Open the folder SPEECHSDK51 and run Setup.exe to install the Microsoft Speech SDK 5.1 for text-to-speech synthesis and speech recognition.
Run Aib by selecting the Isomer directory from the windows start menu and click on AIB 2003. You must then enter your registration code. If you wish to try a Freeware version, type "freeware" as the registration code. The freeware version includes 1 full version run after which the Learn File, Seed, Speech Recognition, Speak .wav and Save to .wav functions will be disabled. To upgrade to the full version after having installed the freeware, simply purchase a registration code and enter it when the program starts up by clicking "Enter Registration Code".
If AIB is working correctly at this point, delete the original zip file and all the files you extracted; they have been copied to the correct locations.

UNINSTALLATION

Close the AIB program.
Delete the folder C:\isomer which is where the program was installed to.
Delete the Isomer directory from the windows start menu by right clicking and selecting delete.

All updates and related product downloads are free and will work with past version registration codes! Don't worry about waiting for the latest version!

All distribution files may be freely distributed.
All generations from Aib are fully licensed to the user and may be freely distributed.
NOTE: There is no physical software distributed when you make a purchase. All distributions must be downloaded by the user. The "product" is the registration code.
